연구실 소개

CHAMP Lab develops human-centered intelligent systems that understand human cognition, behavior, and interaction within complex environments. Our research focuses on how humans perceive, think, decide, and collaborate with intelligent technologies including robots, vehicles, and AI-driven systems.

주요 연구 분야

1. Human Factors & Cognitive Engineering

Human Factors is the study of understanding human capabilities, limitations, cognition, and behavior in order to design safer, more efficient, and more intuitive systems.

Based on Human Factors principles, CHAMP Lab utilizes physiological sensing, behavioral analysis, multimodal data fusion, and AI-based cognitive modeling to better understand human cognition and behavior.

2. Observation → Detection → Intervention → Feedback

CHAMP Lab develops closed-loop human-centered intelligent systems through the process of Observation, Detection, Intervention, and Feedback.

Observation involves collecting physiological, behavioral, and interaction data during human–system interaction. Detection estimates human cognitive and physiological states such as workload, fatigue and situation awareness. Based on these estimated states, Intervention adjusts system behavior, while Feedback monitors human responses to maintain a real-time human-centered interaction loop.

3. Human-Centered Intelligent Systems

CHAMP Lab aims to design systems that adapt to humans rather than forcing humans to adapt to systems.

CHAMP Lab covers various application domains including Human–Robot Interaction (HRI) for humanoid and collaborative robotics, Mobility for autonomous driving, Healthcare for medical systems, and Industrial AI for smart manufacturing. The lab develops adaptive intelligent systems that understand and respond to human cognition, behavior, and interaction in real-world environments.
